A Miami news station director issued a stern warning to his team regarding their online presence. This directive gained renewed attention after a local anchor shared several images of herself in swimwear during a holiday in Fiji.
Florida TV boss rips cringeworthy posts – Bill Pohovey, serving as the vice president of news at WPLG, criticized his team for what he described as influencer-style conduct. He believed this trend was diverting attention from their core journalistic responsibilities. According to a report by FTVLive, Pohovey expressed that he had previously communicated these concerns via email but observed a regression in staff conduct. He stated:
“I have emailed about this numerous times in the past, but we seem to be going in the wrong direction again.”
The internal communication came to light as a series of Instagram updates appeared on the verified personal account of WPLG anchor and reporter Jenise Fernandez. She shared images documenting her recent travels to Fiji with her audience of approximately 28,000 followers. Although the memo had been distributed several weeks prior to these specific images, the visual similarity sparked debate regarding potential policy violations.
One image captured Fernandez stepping onto a vessel while wearing a bright red bikini. The accompanying text read:
