Daisy Edgar-Jones opens up for the first time about her debilitating battle with endometriosis – and how she has learned to manage the painful condition over the years

Daisy Edgar-Jones reveals her ongoing struggle with endometriosis

In a candid YouTube appearance with Vogue, Daisy Edgar-Jones, 27, shared her experience living with endometriosis, detailing how she has adapted to manage the condition over time.

The actress discussed her diagnosis at 24, which came after years of dealing with intense menstrual pain and fluctuating skin health. While demonstrating her morning skincare regimen, she explained how her teenage years were marked by severe acne and discomfort during her periods.

‘I have endometriosis, so my hormones are constantly shifting. I struggled with extreme breakouts throughout my teens, and my skin was often unpredictable.’

She added: ‘For a long time, the acne was the only thing I noticed in the mirror. My periods were so painful, and my skin would flare up frequently. It wasn’t until I was 24 that I finally got an answer for what I was going through.’

Understanding endometriosis

Endometriosis is a long-term condition where womb-like tissue develops outside the uterus, often in the ovaries or fallopian tubes. This leads to inflammation, scar tissue, and symptoms such as severe period pain, infertility, and chronic pelvic discomfort.

According to the NHS, approximately two million women in the UK are affected by the disorder. Its exact cause remains unclear, though genetic factors, immune system issues, or chemical exposure may play a role. Treatment typically involves pain management and lifestyle adjustments, including surgery or hormone therapy.

Her evolving approach to wellness

Over time, Daisy has developed a skincare routine tailored to her needs and noticed positive changes by modifying her diet. ‘I’ve discovered a regimen that works for me,’ she said. ‘But I’ve also found that staying hydrated and avoiding dairy helps significantly.’

She encouraged others with acne: ‘When I had terrible acne, it was all I could see when I looked in the mirror. But now, I realize so much of your beauty lies within. Confidence is something you carry, and it can make a big difference.’

Love and life after diagnosis

Daisy’s recent public discussion follows her rare public outing with her partner, Ben Seed, who is also known by the artist name Pip. The couple attended a Krug & Max Richter event in London last month, marking a rare moment of visibility for their relationship.

Ben, a photographer, has previously been in the spotlight as he dated Anya Taylor-Joy, star of The Queen’s Gambit. Their relationship ended before Anya won best actress at the 2021 Golden Globes. Daisy, meanwhile, split from her ex-boyfriend Tom Varey in late 2020 after two years together.

A source told The Sun: ‘Daisy and Pip have grown closer this year and are inseparable. They’ve spent a lot of time together at Broadway Market, enjoying casual hangouts and bonding. There’s a real connection between them, and she’s thrilled to be with him.’
