Man jailed after grooming girl he met on Roblox
Offender targeted 14-year-old through online messages and gifts
A 19-year-old man from Eastleigh, Hampshire, has been sentenced to 28 months in prison for grooming a 14-year-old girl he connected with on the Roblox gaming platform. The teenager, based in Greater Manchester, initially told the defendant she was 15 before confirming her actual age in December 2024. Prosecutors revealed that Tritta, who was 18 when they first interacted online, manipulated her into sending sexually explicit content and persuading her to watch a sexual act.
“The young girl believed she was in a loving relationship, but it was built on coercion, control, and abuse,” said Det Supt Rod Kenny of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary.
Tritta also admitted to intimidating witnesses and damaging property after he violated his bail conditions by traveling 200 miles (322km) to the girl’s home twice. The offender’s actions, which included sending takeaway food and a private phone to her residence, were described as part of a calculated effort to gain her trust. His messages began with casual game discussions but soon turned to more suggestive exchanges.
The case emerged when the girl’s mother found a message on her daughter’s phone in August 2025. Tritta had first met the victim 11 months earlier while playing a Roblox game, and their conversations later shifted to messaging apps like WhatsApp and Snapchat. During these interactions, he claimed to have feelings for her, further isolating her from her family.
“His actions, for his own sexual gratification, have caused fear and anxiety for the young victim and her family,” stated Karina Lyon of the Crown Prosecution Service. “Not only is Tritta a sexual predator, but he has also exhibited deeply troubling behavior by visiting the girl’s address and damaging property despite court orders.”
Roblox, the platform where Tritta and the girl first connected, noted that it had introduced new age verification measures in January 2025 to restrict interactions to users of similar ages or known contacts. A spokesperson said the platform’s policies aim to prevent child exploitation, with safety systems designed to limit chat activity for younger users and monitor image sharing. However, they acknowledged that no system is entirely foolproof.
During his police interview, Tritta admitted he only realized his actions were illegal once under investigation. The girl described feeling trapped and fearful, stating she was “scared of going downstairs at night” because she believed Tritta might be waiting for her. Her mother testified that the family had become “constantly on edge,” with the home no longer feeling like a safe environment. The victim now attends therapy to manage the emotional impact of the ordeal.
