High-profile real estate brothers convicted in sex trafficking case

Three siblings, Tal Alexander, 39, Oren Alexander, 38, and Alon Alexander, 38, have been found guilty of sex trafficking charges after a lengthy trial. The brothers, known for their success in selling high-end properties in New York and Miami, were accused of drugging and raping multiple women over several years. The jury in New York delivered the verdict on all 10 criminal counts, including the exploitation of a minor, marking a significant legal outcome.

Accusations and Defense

Prosecutors alleged that the siblings used their financial resources to attract women to social gatherings and lavish residences, only to administer drugs and subject them to sexual assault. While the defense contended that the women were active participants, they emphasized the brothers’ reputation as womanizers rather than aggressors. Assistant US Attorney Andrew Jones described their actions as “callous” and driven by “a perverse sense of pride,” highlighting a lack of remorse in their conduct.

“They’re not drugging them, they’re not raping them, but they’re certainly pursuing them,” said Marc Agnifilo, one of the brothers’ attorneys, who previously represented rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs in a sex trafficking trial. Agnifilo dismissed the civil lawsuit against Oren Alexander as a “demonstrably false lawsuit for maximum media impact.”

Testimonies and Evidence

During the five-week trial, 11 women—some of whom claimed to be underage at the time—testified, describing how the brothers offered gifts and arranged travel to parties where they fed them drugs before committing sexual acts. Jurors were shown footage of Oren Alexander allegedly raping a 17-year-old at his Manhattan apartment in 2009, underscoring the systematic nature of the alleged abuse.

A new claim emerged during the trial as reality TV star Tracy Tutor, a top real estate agent, accused Oren Alexander of drugging and sexually assaulting her in New York City in 2024. The Southern District of New York’s US Attorney Jay Clayton praised the verdict, stating it reflects “calculated, brutal sexual abuse” that the defendants “celebrated.” He emphasized the importance of holding the Alexanders accountable for their actions.

Background of the Defendants

Tal and Oren Alexander were once celebrated agents at Douglas Elliman, handling listings for celebrities like Liam Gallagher, Lindsay Lohan, Kim Kardashian, and Kanye West. In 2022, they launched their own firm in New York, Official, while Alon remained with the family’s private security company, Kent Security. The case has brought scrutiny to their careers and the broader real estate industry.

Sentencing is set for 6 August, with the brothers potentially facing life in prison. The verdict has been hailed as a milestone in the fight against sex trafficking, though the defense remains determined to challenge the outcome, as reported by the Associated Press.
