Eamonn Holmes ‘doing OK’ after stroke, his son says
Eamonn Holmes’s son, Declan, shared that his father is “doing OK” following a recent stroke. “We’re taking it one step at a time,” Declan remarked, noting the family’s effort to maintain stability for the 66-year-old GB News presenter. The statement was posted on Instagram, accompanied by a photo of him supporting his father’s shoulder.
“We’d really value a bit of privacy as we navigate it [sic], and what lies ahead, but thank you again for the support as it means so much to dad and the rest of the family,” Declan said.
GB News confirmed Holmes’s hospitalization after the stroke, which occurred last week. The channel stated he was “responding well to treatment” during his recovery. CEO Angelos Frangopoulos praised Holmes as a “loved member of the GB News family” and assured the team’s continued support during his healing process.
A veteran in broadcasting, Holmes began his role at GB News in 2022, hosting the breakfast show. Prior to this, he had presented programs for Sky News and ITV. His career spans decades, with notable appearances on ITV’s This Morning, where he co-hosted alongside Ruth Langsford, whom he married in 2010. The couple announced their separation in 2024, stating their marriage was over and they were in the process of divorcing.
Holmes, originally from Northern Ireland, has discussed past health challenges such as spinal surgery, double hip replacement, and difficulties with mobility, including the use of a scooter. His resilience has been a topic of discussion in recent years.
What is a stroke?
A stroke happens when blood flow to a part of the brain is interrupted, as outlined by NHS guidelines. Symptoms can include facial drooping, arm weakness, and speech difficulties, depending on the affected area.
