Couple in court after boy, 13, dies in crash
Following a 13-year-old boy’s untimely death in a collision, Jamie Fountain and Ellie Ireland appeared in court. The incident occurred in Flitwick, Bedfordshire, at 23:50 BST on Friday, resulting in the tragic loss of Noah Campbell. Two other teenagers were hospitalized with severe injuries.
The couple, both charged with multiple offenses, were remanded in custody. Their next court date is set for 5 May at Luton Crown Court. Fountain, a groundworker, was driving a BMW at the time of the accident. Ireland, his girlfriend and an EasyJet cabin crew member, was the passenger.
Fountain faces charges of causing death by careless driving, driving while over the legal limit for alcohol and drugs, and two counts of causing serious injury through negligence. He was also accused of failing to stop at the accident scene and not reporting the incident. Ireland was charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
The court session included the presence of Noah’s family and both defendants’ families. Police confirmed that one of the injured boys remains in serious condition. In a tribute, Noah’s family described him as a “fun, bright, handsome, athletic” boy who was “incredibly well-liked.”
