A 19-year-old woman, identified as Jamie-Lea Biscoe, lost her life after being attacked by a dog at her home in Leaden Roding. The incident occurred on Friday evening, with Essex Police responding to Long Hide at 22:45 BST. Upon arrival, officers discovered the woman suffering from severe injuries. Despite immediate medical intervention, she was declared dead at the scene, according to the police statement.

Arrest and Investigation Underway

A 37-year-old man from Dunmow has been taken into custody on suspicion of allowing his dog to act dangerously out of control, resulting in fatal injury. The canine was removed from the premises and secured by specialist units. A temporary cordon remains around the property as investigators probe the circumstances. Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper expressed condolences, stating the event would deeply affect the community.

“I know this incident will be a shock to the local community. My thoughts, and those of all at Essex Police, are with the loved ones of the woman who died yesterday. Experienced detectives are leading the investigation to understand exactly what has happened,” Hooper said.

The police have requested assistance from the public, urging anyone with footage—whether from CCTV, dashcams, or personal recordings—to come forward. The case is logged under incident number 1419, dated 10 April. Meanwhile, St Michael and All Angels church in the village announced plans to hold a memorial service on Sunday afternoon, including prayer and candlelighting.
