Woman raped by multiple men near church following nightclub exit

Police in Surrey have confirmed a sexual assault incident involving several men occurred outside a church after a woman in her early twenties left a local nightclub. The attack took place between 2:00 and 4:00 BST on Saturday, with the victim reportedly being followed shortly after leaving the Labyrinth Epsom venue. The assault is believed to have happened near the Epsom Methodist Church on Ashley Road.

Investigation underway

Det Insp Aine Matthews noted that the case is in its initial phase, emphasizing the emotional impact on the victim. “This is a highly distressing event, and specialist teams are providing support to the individual,” she stated.

“Our investigation is in its early stages. We are working quickly to build a clearer understanding of the suspects and will release more information as soon as possible,” said Matthews.

Authorities have not yet obtained complete descriptions of the perpetrators but are actively seeking witnesses. They are asking anyone who was in the area during the time frame to come forward. “We would like to speak to individuals who may have observed or interacted with the woman in distress,” added the officer.
