Woman, 19, killed in dog attack at house

Emergency services responded to a call at 22:45 BST on Friday after a 19-year-old woman suffered severe injuries in a dog attack at a property in Essex. The incident occurred at Long Hide, a location in the village of Leaden Roding, close to Dunmow. Officers arrived to find the woman in critical condition, but she was later declared dead at the scene, according to Essex Police.

A 37-year-old man from Dunmow has been taken into custody on suspicion of allowing a dog to behave dangerously and causing fatal harm. The canine was confiscated by authorities, and specialist teams confirmed the area was secure before the woman’s remains were transported. The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack.

“This incident will be a shock to the local community,” said Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper. “My thoughts, and those of all at Essex Police, are with the woman’s family and friends. We will have officers stationed in the area today to gather information or address any concerns. Experienced detectives are leading the inquiry to determine the full details of what occurred.”

Authorities have urged anyone with footage, such as CCTV or dashcam recordings, to share it with them. The case is being logged under incident number 1419, which took place on 10 April.
