Melania Trump says rumours linking her to Epstein ‘need to stop’

First Lady Melania Trump Urges Congressional Hearings Amid Epstein Allegations
At the White House, First Lady Melania Trump refuted ties to Jeffrey Epstein, insisting that claims linking her to the convicted sex trafficker “must cease immediately.” Her remarks came as a sudden statement on Thursday, prompting questions about the timing and motivation behind the disclosure. The White House had not previously highlighted Epstein as a focal point in her daily agenda, leaving many surprised by the sudden shift in focus.
Trump emphasized she had no knowledge of Epstein’s alleged abuse, stating she only briefly “intersected” with him in 2000. “I was never part of any activity involving him,” she said, dismissing rumors that Epstein introduced her to her husband as “sabotage efforts to harm my reputation.” She also denied familiarity with Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s jailed associate, calling a 2002 email exchange between them “casual correspondence” and “a polite reply.”
“Each and every woman should have her day to tell her story in public if she wishes,” Trump asserted. “Then, and only then, we will have the truth.”
The email, sent to a recipient labeled “G” (believed to be Maxwell), praised a photo of “JE” from New York Magazine and expressed eagerness to visit Palm Beach. The magazine piece featured quotes from then-President Donald Trump, who described Epstein as “a terrific guy” and “a lot of fun to be with,” adding that “he enjoys his social life” and “likes beautiful women as much as I do, many on the younger side.”
California Democrat Robert Garcia, a leading member of the House Oversight Committee, echoed Trump’s stance in a statement shortly after. “We support her demand for a public hearing,” Garcia said, urging Chairman James Comer to act swiftly. The first lady’s comments are expected to stir renewed scrutiny of the justice department’s handling of Epstein’s case and the subsequent release of his records.
Though Donald Trump acknowledged knowing Epstein, he later claimed to have removed him from Mar-a-Lago for being a “creep.” Despite his frequent mentions in the Epstein files, no evidence of misconduct has been directly tied to him. Trump’s latest statement aims to clarify her role in the scandal while pushing for transparency in the ongoing inquiry.
