Israel’s aerial assault on Beirut leaves 182 dead, 800 injured

Wednesday saw Lebanon endure its most intense Israeli air strikes since the conflict began. The attack lasted for 10 minutes, with Israeli forces claiming to have launched approximately 100 strikes across the country.

Lebanon’s health ministry reported at least 182 deaths and over 800 injuries as a result of the bombardment. The strikes targeted areas in Beirut, causing widespread destruction and chaos in the city.

The BBC’s Middle East Correspondent, Hugo Bachega, was on location following one of the deadliest attacks. He described the scene as “a nightmare unfolding in real time,” highlighting the immediate impact on civilians.

“The intensity of the strikes was unprecedented. People were fleeing buildings, and the air was filled with the sound of explosions,” Bachega said.
